As Octane continues to grind away—over a dozen new trades today and more than 20 closed—I can’t help but reflect on the demise of my two other bots: Odyssey and Stellar Trend Algo vTron. Both bots sent me emails urging me to “seriously consider” adding more money. Spoiler alert: I didn’t. The results, however, were quite different.
Odyssey: A (Partial) Escape Plan
At first, it seemed like Odyssey (Forex.com – Gain Capital Group) had completely tanked. But, after some quick thinking and a little divine intervention, I found a way to extract what I could. Here’s how:
- Downloaded MetaTrader 5 (MT5):
Straight from Forex.com, because Odyssey wasn’t going to log itself into my account. - Logged In and Faced the Chaos:
Once inside, I saw the wreckage. Open trades everywhere. - Deleted All Open Trades:
Thanks to the US FIFO (First In, First Out) rules, I couldn’t just target the biggest losers. Instead, I lined up the trades chronologically and cleared them out one by one. - Withdrew My Remaining Balance:
Once the account was liquid, I wasted no time withdrawing what was left. It wasn’t much, but hey—it’s in my bank account now, and guess what? It hasn’t lost a penny since it landed there.
Stellar Trend Algo vTron: A PAMM Account’s Final Chapter
Stellar Trend (OX Securities) didn’t leave me much room to maneuver. This bot was in a PAMM account, which meant I had no control over trades. Despite the developer’s efforts to trade the bot out of its tangled mess, it was too far gone.
When I checked my PAMM account, I was greeted with an unwelcome surprise: a balance of negative $69. Let’s just say I won’t be paying that tab.
This bot’s downfall wasn’t entirely unexpected. My timing couldn’t have been worse—jumping in right before the tariff-induced Forex chaos. Lesson learned: never trust a week-long demo account to predict real-world performance.
What’s Next?
For now, Octane is holding steady, and I have no plans to audition any new bots. If I ever do, I’ll be running the demo account MUCH longer than a week.
In the meantime, I’ll enjoy the quiet… and my newfound appreciation for liquidity. If nothing else, my bank account is finally drama-free.
