Over a year ago, I created a video for EFX on their Octane bot. Since making the video, I turned off the bot for a few months and then turned it back on. (My reasons for turning Octane off were not bot-related. It was technology/VPS related.)

Someone saw my video on the EFX site. They did a little detective work and found my contact info. When you describe yourself as a “Recovering Algorithmic Trader,” it could be interpreted as, “I have experiences I wish I didn’t have, but I am willing to share my experiences with the hope you can learn from them.” It could also be viewed as, “Don’t talk to me and remind me of my shame.” I am a little ashamed, but I fall into the first category.

We talked for 15 minutes about the new bots that both EFX and NURP released. I didn’t have direct experience with either US Broker bot, but I could talk to my respect for the companies. Since NURP was primarily responsible for adding “recovering” to my LinkedIn title, my vote went to EFX. In the past, NURP was better tailored to algo bot users who were not afraid to help the bot when it got in a tough spot. I don’t have that skill or a desire to acquire it.

While my recommendation for him was for EFX, it might not be the same for everyone. If you are already in the NURP family, the cost of starting to use a bot that works on US brokers is far less. This is the path I have chosen. Within the week, I will introduce the Odyssey bot and provide feedback. It was a MUCH more straightforward process than when I turned on my first bot in the fall of 2023. 🙂
