Even VPSes have updates that need installed. They are just remote computers! Because Forex is traded from 16:00 Sunday Central Time to 16:00 Friday Central Time, the weekend is an ideal time to make these updates.

Of the three bot families I am familiar with, two of them encourage you to do the updates on the weekends. Just like your home computer, you reboot the PC or Mac. When the computer comes back online, everything should work the same but with more security or a couple of extra bells and whistles. (The upgrades are now active.)

How my bots faired after a reboot:

• The Fed and Gold Digger (NURP): The NURP products are designed to survive the reboot very well. After the reboot, all open trades showed back up on the correct charts. When running The Fed and Gold Digger in the same account, this can involve up to 24 charts. While I did not verify every open trade, I did check a couple of them this morning. I will admit to relying on previous reboots, but I feel confident all is well in with these bots and their VPS.
• Precision (University of Options): According to my settings, the Precision bot closes all trades at the end of its trading window. Based on its present configuration, a weekend reboot would not leave any trades unmanaged.
• Pro (University of Options): With all of the University of Options bots on the same server, the reboot had no surprises. The double-open trades all showed up correctly on the charts after the reboot was completed. All 6 charts this bot trades were opened and ready for the next trading week.
• Aviator (University of Options): The bot was just installed the other day. It only has 5 open trades. Each of those survived the reboot and maintained its “managed” status on the charts. This bot only trades on 3 charts, but they were all ready for next market open.
• Octane (EFX): Because I have closed this bot, I can no longer test how it handles a reboot. When this has happened in the past, Customer Service will need to get involved if you want any hope of salvaging your open trades. Tracking open trades after a reboot is not a VPS issue. It is a design issue of the algo. If the algorithm isn’t created with a way to “find” open trades after a reboot, it won’t do it. This is a serious flaw of this bot. As I stated in a previous post, “If you have an Octane bot that is never interrupted by an internet sneeze or a hardware cough or even a software hiccup, you will be more fortunate than I was.”
