Bot Security Slowing My Plans

As I prepare to buy a couple of new bots that use different strategies and to run a couple of algo trading bots in the same brokerage account, I am forced to accept the security rules from my bot providers.

With EFX, the “license” is based off of your email address. If you want to change your email address on your bot, you need to work with customer service to arrange this. If you don’t get this coordinated, the bot will stop trading. While I am not certain, it could orphan any open trades the bot is monitoring. Bottom line: don’t change your email address within your configuration file unless customer service gives you the “thumbs up” first. While it doesn’t affect any real money, I believe license will allow you to set up one “demo” brokerage account.

With Nurp, they seem to have two methods that vary depending on the bot.

  • With Gold Digger, it is related to the brokerage account number. You need to let Nurp know what the specific brokerage account you are going to run Gold Digger in. Once they have it changed in their system, it will start working…eventually. As I understand it, there was a technical wrinkle in making the account change for me. As I write this, all is complete.
  • With “The Fed”, you are issued a license number unique to you. When you are setting up the configuration file, the license number must be included. It can only be associated with one account. I haven’t tried to test the effectiveness of this method, but I am confident they know what they are doing. I am not sure of the method, but the bot does check in with the Nurp servers to keep everyone honest.

Why would I choose to combine two bots into one account?

  • Since Gold and Forex don’t typically go into drawdown at the same time, Nurp has assured its community these two bots can “cohabitate”.
  • Since Nurp allows a great deal of configuration when operating their algo bots, the larger account size allows the Gold Digger bot trades to be with larger lot sizes. Because it is such an accurate bot, this will likely convert into greater profit per trade. The Fed bought will continue to do many frequent trades on the 23 Forex pairs it typically trades on.
  • Unfortunately, I will have to pay 2 software fees for this arrangement. However, I am confident The Fed and the Gold Digger will make me glad I introduced them.

The purpose for my algo trading bots is to get consistent growth while maximizing the capital I entrust to them. I believe this is an important step toward that goal.
