It is has been a few days since the bot has made any trades of any financial consequences. Since I am one of those guys who will check the app on my phone a couple of times a day, I rarely worry about my algo bot being deceased. (For some reason the bot has “hopped off of” the appropriate Forex chart.) Those who visit their account a couple times a week have wondered lately if the bot was actively trading their account. There are always a few thing you can do:

1. From the phone app, I will check to see if the balance has gone up or down. Either way, it is a confirmation. The Octane bot doesn’t set a “Take Profit” price. If there are changes to the balance, the bot is active. (The balance is “redded” out above.) If the “Profit/Loss” is moving, it only confirms the positions are active. It doesn’t confirm the bot is opening or closing trades.
2. Also from the app, you can check if any new trades have been added. Sometimes this involves closing the app and reopening. Rarely, does the bot go more than a day without adding a new position.
3. I received an email from EFX (vendor for Octane) this morning. They are putting their bot on “Safe Mode” until after the election. This type of action would also account for any perceived bot “drowsiness”. It is intentional. It is being done to protect your account.
4. Logging into your VPS is also an option ALTHOUGH discouraged. If you don’t log on, you can’t accidentally do anything wrong.
5. If neither of these set your mind at ease, you can check on the myFXbook listing for your bot. (If you have one.) This is the link for my Octane bot.

While I would like to see my balance grow, I would rather it not shrink drastically or blowup. I will accept the glacier-like movements if the account emerges happy and healthy on the other side.
