My Crypto Farming Adventure: Chasing a Moving Target

Caught a good APR in this position yesterday. A shame it was for less than 24 hours…
Is this farming position underfunded? I won’t know how deep my regret until after Ethereum peaks.

I’ve had to change the range for my Solana (SOL) and USDC crypto farm more times than I can count. The current range is good… at least until it isn’t. The real challenge has been setting a range that gives me enough room to profit on the low end while also leaving space for the price to grow on the high end. It feels like I’m trying to hit a moving target with a blindfold on.

The Challenge of Chasing “Gurus”

Because I’m new to this, my crypto farms feel different these days. The prices suddenly shoot up, like they’re in a hurry to go somewhere. Then they stop, drop back down, and hang out in a good range for a while.

This is likely normal, but it’s hard when all the “gurus” online are saying Solana is going to hit almost $300. I don’t want to miss that big jump. I want my initial investment to ride the wave all the way to the top. It’s like being at the start of a roller coaster, and everyone is telling you to get off just before the biggest drop.

The WETH/USDC Dilemma

My WETH/USDC position is no different. The experts are now claiming that Ethereum (ETH) will definitely go past $5,000, maybe even $7,000 or $15,000.

If I put all my ETH into the liquidity farm, I could be earning five times more than I am now. But if ETH’s price shoots way past the top of my range, it would have been much more profitable to just hold the ETH outside of the farm. I’m not losing money as long as ETH doesn’t fall back to half its current price.

Since I dropped out of my “Financial-Market Mind-Reading 101” college course, I can only hope the choice I made was a good one. Was it the best? Only time will tell.
