With my alternate investments currently giving me less to cheer about than a rerun of Wheel of Fortune, I’ve been doing some exploring. Exploration, however, is like fishing—you might cast your line a hundred times before you catch something worth keeping. Fortunately, I found something interesting enough to share.
During a call last week, I learned about a website that’s essentially a candy store for algo enthusiasts. You can swap between a variety of strategies with ease. It feels like a home for multiple PAMMs (Percentage Allocation Management Modules), but oddly enough, when I searched that term on the site, it came up empty.
What Is Collective2?
The website in question is https://trade.collective2.com/, and here’s what I discovered:
- Account Creation Is a Breeze:
Signing up is quick and painless, like ordering fast food—but without the guilt. Once you’re in, you can browse through the available strategies and even create a “simulation” account to test the waters without risking real money. - Emails Galore:
After signing up, don’t be surprised if you receive a few emails highlighting available strategies. It’s kind of like being handed a menu at a restaurant—except this menu is full of algorithms with varying levels of ambition and risk. - Subscription Model:
The site offers a monthly subscription, which seems to allow you the freedom to try one strategy or mix and match several. It’s like an all-you-can-eat buffet for algos—just don’t overload your plate. - Algo Collaboration (or Mystery?):
I heard on the grapevine that at least one algo company uses strategies from Collective2 and markets them to their own customers for a fee. If true, they’re keeping Collective2’s role quiet. It’s like rebranding a store-bought pie as “Grandma’s secret recipe.” - Broker Compatibility:
Collective2 works with several brokers, but topping their list is Interactive Brokers. A good fit for those who like their trades executed with precision and professionalism.
The Big Question: A Strategy for Today, but What About Tomorrow?
With so many strategies to choose from, odds are you’ll find at least one that looks like a winner today. But will it still look like a winner tomorrow? That’s the eternal question with algos—and the reason I’m currently algo-averse.
Why I’m Not Biting (Yet)
Right now, my appetite for trying out this website is about as strong as my enthusiasm for surprise dental work. Until my other accounts recover and my real money starts growing again, I’m staying cautious.
But hey, that doesn’t mean you can’t explore for yourself. Feel free to set up a simulation account and see what all the fuss is about. Maybe you’ll find the strategy that’s right for you—or at least have some fun pretending to be an algo wizard.
When my accounts bounce back and I start salivating over new opportunities, I might just give Collective2 a closer look. Until then, happy exploring!
