Futures, Hiccups, and Hope: My Copy Trading Adventure in the Making

I haven’t talked much about the Futures project I dipped my toes into. Well, correction: I did talk about it—back when it was shiny and full of promise. Then it got the hiccups. And not the cute, “aww, that’s funny” kind of hiccups. These were the annoying, hard-to-ignore, “is this ever going to stop?” kind.

The hiccups turned into full-on delays, and I almost lost track of everything. But now, after a few months of radio silence, it seems like the project is finally back on track. Fingers crossed, right?

What’s the Deal?

At its core, I’m calling this a “copy trader.” Is that 100% accurate? Probably not, but it’s close enough. Here’s how it works (or will work, hopefully):

There are traders who use strategies taught by the University of Options (UoO). When the system—let’s call it “the terminal”—is set up correctly, trades made by those traders are copied into your account. Sounds simple, right? Well, the delays have been anything but simple.

Apparently, progress has been bogged down by every possible complication under the sun—VPS speeds, Ninja Trader software versions, and even infrastructure issues at UoO itself. But now, we’re being told most of these bugs have been squashed. Hallelujah!

Where Things Stand

To start, the “copy trading” will only operate on micro-futures accounts. As things grow and stabilize, the rules might evolve.

For now, though, UoO is asking everyone to stick to their Sim accounts for a few more days. Some eager participants jumped the gun and ended up with unintended losses, which, let’s face it, is not the vibe this project is going for.

There’s also been some dreamy chatter about gaining access to a prop firm in the future. No timeline, no details, just enough to keep the “what if?” part of my brain buzzing.

A Glimmer of Potential

With my Octane bot being the reigning MVP of 2025 so far, I’d love to see this copy trading project step up and give it some competition. I genuinely believe there’s potential here.

As for crypto and Odyssey? Let’s just say they’ve been the underwhelming players on my team this year. But who knows? Maybe they’ll surprise me and become the dark-horse candidates for 2025. A guy can dream, right?
