As I woke yesterday morning with a patriotic spirit, I realized the Forex markets were indeed open. (I am still in my first year of using algo trading bots, so the obvious to trading veterans is not at all obvious to me yet.) Since it was likely to be a slow day [Writing this on Tuesday, it was indeed slow.], I wondered what the bots might do to relax for the day:
- In the US, some places still do parades. If my bots were the tractors I sometimes refer to them as being, they could be a pseudo-float in one of those parades. Of course, boring trading bots would not be waving or throwing candy. The applause of the viewers would be reserved for floats/participants with military or local connections.
- If they liked brisket or other cookout items, we could prepare them a plate of fat-laden treats. But, the only energy they need comes from the electricity provided at their VPS homes.
- Algo trading bots are just not social. They have limited conversation skills…unless they are talking to other algorithmic trading bots. Even then, if they trade different Forex pairs, the conversations would be brief and horribly esoteric.
- Since they don’t have a mailing address, the lack of mail delivery does not affect them at all. I login and give them all of the messages they need.
- The algo trading bots are not at all patriotic. They don’t honor heroes. None of their relatives have served honorably or dishonorably. They are very one-dimensional with no capacity to show joy or appreciation.
Bottom Line: Since bots have no personalities or no redeeming qualities beyond their trading skills, the markets might as well be open. Otherwise, they would have nothing to do.
