The Odd Couple

Yes, I am still talking about algo bots. Two of my bots play very nicely together. If the setting are done correctly, they can produce very good results. These two bots “live” and “work” in the same brokerage account. How do they manage to not get in each other’s way? Let me tell you…

  • The Fed: This bot trades 23 of the most common Forex pairs. Depending on what choices are made, some pairs may not be traded at all, OR some pairs may be traded with smaller lots sizes then the other pairs. This flexibility may be seen as a negative by some people. (Oooh! I hate to get into my bot and change the settings.) I view it as a positive. If I have bad luck on a particular pair (USDCHF comes to mind.), I would crank the lot sizes way down or remove the Forex pair from the trading options entirely.
  • Gold Digger: While this bot was very effective working by itself, it was frustrating when I had to have a solo trading account filled with money for the few trades it took. With Gold Digger sharing its account, the lot sizes are adjusted slightly down. But, when there is more capital in the account, the bot can still close many profitable trades.
  • The Fed: It will hold on to some trades, but typically, it will only have a handful of trades going into the weekend.
  • Gold Digger: Most of its trading is done at night, but day time trading does occur. Within the algorithm, it is informed when things could be volatile. If there are expected bumps in the trading day, the bot gets a massage and pedi.
  • The Fed: This year, the Fed has not started out making as much monthly as it did last year. Of course, making more is better. But, if you want a proven bot with a track record over 18 months, this bot will deliver.
  • Gold Digger: I have seen this bot hold trades for only 2 minutes and make a nice profit. If it does a few of those per night, it is hard not to be happy with the results. It doesn’t hold onto the trades any longer than it needs to.
  • One Negative: Nurp does charge a software fee per bot. So, even though it is only one trading account, you will be paying for two bots every month.

Finally, the big reason this works is the traded Forex pairs and Gold are usually not volatile at the same time. Additionally, choosing to be conservative to moderate in your lot setting will also set you up for long term success.

Good Luck!
