Accountable For What?

When I began the FOREX trading, I was encouraged to join an accountability group. Even when demo trading, frustration, and disappointment are never far away. Wanting to do everything correctly, I was pretty pleased when there was a posting from an accountability group within the “community” to add members to its group. I was accepted into the group after a quick interview and a winning smile.

This group had members working on getting funding from a prop firm. And they had some people like me who were on demo accounts. This group met twice a week. They met on Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon. It was difficult to get full attendance. When only a couple people were there, the more experienced were very generous with their time. I learned how to use the tools, and I learned what great guys were in the group.

If I had remained ignorant about the bots, I would have been happy working exclusively on my FOREX trading. As existing readers know, this was not to be. The accountability group and the bot usage (Yes, the bot does have some drug-like qualities.) began about the same time. When the funds the bot could use to trade were minimal, I could stay focused on FOREX learning and my demo trading. As the bot’s funds grew along with their monthly returns, spending the time necessary to gain FOREX skills became more challenging. In fact, my original goal of $2,000/month in FOREX has been easily surpassed.

Now what do I do? This question has been haunting me for a few weeks. The members of the accountability group have become friends. The friendships don’t run deep based off of a maximum of 2 Zoom calls/week Yet, an accountability group by definition does invite a level of vulnerability. If I continue pursuing these crazy thoughts of allowing the BOTS to do all of the heavy lifting for me, I won’t have much in common with those who want to learn it for themselves.

It grieves me to have to do it, but I see no real choice. My wife and I have some extra disposable income to fuel the BOT. Those in the group are 5-30 years my junior. My accountability peers are trying to create their investment nest egg. They are working on a solid Plan A. I don’t think I am to “Plan C”, but definitely working on solidifying Plan B. If I wanted/needed to become a FOREX stud, I would gladly continue being a member of the group. With my willingness to leave the group behind me, I can move onto accomplishing other goals. I am queuing up the Zoom fistbump. Thanks, guys!
