I don’t know if it will really be the year of the BOT or not. I am shifting things around as I anticipate what the BOT might do if I feed it enough. My accountant and I are still sorting through whether the shifting will benefit me when we do taxes next year this time. The tax issues for 2023 are:
- I need to keep the monthly statements to determine our income from the BOT. The Australian broker doesn’t send US-type tax forms, so this is what he has to work with.
- Since I have an LLC that purchased the BOTs and paid the various related fees (monthly software fees and the Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting fees), I am assuming those costs will be able to be included in my business taxes.
- Depending on the opinion of my CPA, we will need to determine if the “mark to market” designation is appropriate for my situation. This is something we need to talk about for next year.
My other changes are also best illustrated using bullet points:
- I set up an OX Security account in the name of my LLC. After setting this up, I had to create the necessary number of accounts and ensure money was transferred into each account.
- I started the NURP bots at the beginning of January. I purchased them in December, but because I was running the BOTS within my corporate brokerage accounts, I didn’t want to generate any income until January. The NURP staff helped me set them up the first time. I have made some changes since this initial setup.
- The first NURP bot I set up was “The Fed.” This BOT is similar to the EFX Octane BOT. It is taking many small trades over a day. While the EFX BOT has minimum settings that can changed, the FED BOT allows the changing of lot sizes, pairs, and logic when specific trading issues arise.
- The second bot was “The Gold Digger.” This BOT focuses on only gold. So far, I like what it is doing.
- The third bot was “The Pelosi”. This BOT trades in larger lots, but it is much more selective with the trades it gets involved in. (My next posting will detail a difference of opinion Mrs. Pelosi and I had.)
- After my problems trying to force my EFX Octane BOT to share its server, I also moved my EFX BOT to the same server as the NURP BOTs. In the process of finally getting this done, I removed all signs the Moderate EFX BOT existed. I didn’t do this maliciously. I cast a huge net in trying to find the source of my problems getting the BOT set up on the new server. The problem came down to me using a PRO account for my trading. I failed to designate this correctly in the settings. Once this was done, I realized all of the deleting and thoughts of Big Brother were unsubstantiated.
In summary, I started 2024 running 4 BOTS from 2 Providers on 1 VPS. Certainly, nothing could go wrong.., right?
